What Is Rush?

Rush is the time when we get to know new guys and consider asking them to join our fraternity. It is also the opportunity for you to get to know us and see if Phi Psi is right for you.

What Do I Need to Do?

Every freshman, sophomore, and junior (male only, of course) is invited to rush. You only need to come to our rush events at Phi Psi House at 592 Mayfield (The Row). Come hang out and get to know the brothers and our fraternity. If you have any questions, feel free to email Armando Priego(the Rush Chair) or any of the brothers. If you cannot make it to any of the events, please email the Rush Chair and come have a dinner or hang out with us some other time.

Rush 2009 Highlights

Sumo and Sushi
Put on a sumo suit and join in a few rounds of sumo! If you are not into that, come enjoy the sushi and socialize with the brothers.

Miracle Berries
Wanna try lemons that taste like cinnamon or apples that taste like oranges? Come explore other dimensions of your familiar tastes!

Alumni BBQ
One of the most unique aspects of Phi Psi is its extensive alumni network. No other fraternity or sorority has as large an endowment, as active an alumni base, or as strong of a national connection. Phi Psi is for life, come meet several of our alums to see where Phi Psi has led them!

Casino Night
We bet you will have an awesome time!

Jazz and Billiards
Smooth Jazz and smooth conversations. Come chill and play pool with us.

Why Should I Join Phi Psi?

Lifelong friendships
The gentlemen you meet in the fraternity will quickly number among your closest friends, and they will remain your lifelong friends. The fraternity makes it easy to stay in contact with old friends, and it gives you the chance to help and advise under-graduate brothers.

Strong national brotherhood
Phi Kappa Psi is strong across the nation at 90 campuses besides Stanford. A Stanford Phi Psi can go to any of these campuses and be immediately welcomed as a brother. With major national conferences and informal events with chapters in the surrounding area, Phi Psis are truly never alone and can always count on a network of friendship and brotherhood to help them throughout their lives.

Community Service
We endeavor to help the community whenever we can by participating in charity events and community service projects. This includes regular activities involving the Urban Ministry of Palo Alto, beach clean-ups, trail builds, housing consruction, weekly stints at a food kitchen, projects with local schools, ecological maintenance, philanthropy events and more.

Leadership
Within the fraternity, we have numerous oportunities to assume leadership positions and direct the course of Phi Psi. This includes several elected positions and committee chairs, as well as the traditional house positions of RA, RCC, and row managers.

Academics
Phi Psi will not make you abandon your coursework--rather, we understand that classes are the primary reason one is at Stanford. Phi Psi offers many scholarships to its members, both on the national and local level. Finally, you may find that the best study groups are often formed with fellow Phi Psi brothers. We take pride in the fact that our academic record is consistantly among the best on campus, and the best among all Phi Psi chapters nationally.

Strong Ties to Alumni
Phi Psi isn't just composed of active undergraduates. Since 1891, the Stanford chapter of Phi Kappa Psi has initiated 1363 men. Many of our alumni are still actively involved. They attend meetings, events, and provide advice.

Over the course of a year, we hold several large alumni events: Homecoming Dinner, Big Game Lunch, Founders Day Dinner, and Spring Formal. The most fun of these is Big Game Lunch. A bunch of Stanford and Cal Phi Psis gather at Herrington's, a San Francisco bar, for lunch and to predict the score of Big Game. We also hold Homecoming Dinner, Founders Day Dinner, and Spring Formal where we get to hear alumni reminisce about their Phi Psi experiences.
